2019 GLOW Festival of Lights – Eindhoven
If light shows are your favorite, then, in no case, should you miss the GLOW Festival in Eindhoven, one of the top five light shows in the world (together with Moscow, Sydney, Berlin and Lyon).
Launched in 2006 with less than 50,000 visitors, it became one of the largest events in the city with over 700,000 coming to enjoy the light spectacle throughout the city. Each year has its own theme (in 2018 it was “Shadows & Light”) and projects are connected with a walking tour (5km long tour in 2018). The routes are usually revealed closer to the festival opening day.
It is not surprising that Eindhoven is the City of Lights as “the match industry established itself in 1870 and Philips opened an incandescent bulb factory in 1891”.
Apart from the main event, an attractive side program is also presented, now with a forth edition of GLOWRun that is held as a part of the closing ceremony.
Many different light projects are presented along the route: innovative and unique projects, work from young talent, sustainable projects that create environmental awareness, and a number of other big highlights.
Some of the projects shown during the GLOW were visible 25 kilometers away!
This GLOW Festival in Eindhoven is by all means a spectacular event!
